Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Housekeeper, the selected candidate will be responsible for the daily administration of receiving and issuing linen. They will track special room items sent for laundry and follow up on outstanding uniform and F&B linen. The candidate will control linen by counting, exchanging, and distributing it to maid stations, while checking incoming linen from contractors and sorting out stained or torn items for rewashing or mending. They will manage uniform control, including checking soiled uniforms, issuing uniforms to staff, and ensuring resigned staff return their items. Other duties include ironing F&B tablecloths, carrying out simple alterations and sewing for uniforms, washing face towels, and conducting weekly checks on laundry chemical stock levels.
Required qualifications
The candidate is not required to have any formal higher education degree. They should be legally eligible to work in Singapore. The candidate must be physically capable of performing tasks such as counting, sorting, and distributing bulk linen across the hotel premises. Candidates who are able to commence work within short notice will be at a strong advantage.
Experience needed
This is a non-executive level position in the hospitality sector. The candidate should have a minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience. Prior experience working in the hotel industry is highly preferred and will be considered a strong asset. On the job guidance regarding the specific heritage hotel standards and laundry contractor processes will be provided to the selected candidates.
Skills and competencies
The candidate should be highly organized with a good eye for detail to accurately record linen discrepancies and maintain strict uniform control. They should possess basic sewing and mending skills to carry out simple alterations efficiently. The candidate should have basic communication skills to report any health or safety hazards to the Supervisor. They should be able to follow housekeeping instructions carefully and maintain a professional attitude at work.
