Key Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality therapeutic casework services to children with complex trauma. Key duties include ensuring the emotional, social, behavioral, and educational needs of clients are met through the effective use of specialized treatment models like Trauma System Therapy (TST) and Positive Behavioural Interventions and Support (PBIS). You will utilize assessment tools such as CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) and partner with MSF Child Protection Officers to work toward safe community placements. The role also involves providing coaching to direct care staff and parents, planning therapeutic group work, and providing regular updates to an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
Required Qualification
The candidate must possess a Degree or Graduate Diploma in Social Work. You must be a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Singapore Association of Social Workers or be eligible for accreditation. The role requires a deep understanding of trauma, attachment, and resilience theories, specifically as they relate to child and adolescent development. You should have excellent report-writing skills and the ability to manage complex cases involving multi-problem families. As the nature of the job involves working specifically with primary school boys, a high degree of patience and clinical competency is essential.
Experience Needed
The candidate must have at least 3 years of related work experience, though candidates with 5 years of experience (including 2 years supervising junior social workers) are highly preferred. Epworth is looking for a professional who has a proven track record in therapeutic intervention and experience working with external agencies and stakeholders in the Singapore social service landscape.
