Job Overview

Tian San Shipping (Private) Limited, a reputable provider of marine transportation, harbor craft services, and vessel chartering solutions in Singapore, is seeking an experienced, safety-focused Steersman to manage daily vessel navigation and deck operations. This permanent, full-time position plays a vital role in ensuring safe port movements, vessel operational readiness, and strict adherence to Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely navigate, steer, and operate the assigned harbor craft or vessel in compliance with maritime safety protocols and navigational guidelines.
• Carry out routine vessel maintenance, deck upkeep, mooring operations, and overall cleanliness of vessel areas and navigational equipment.
• Liaise effectively with management, shore support teams, and clients regarding voyage progress, operational requirements, or technical incidents to mitigate downtime.
• Ensure full compliance with Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) harbor craft regulations, maritime laws, and statutory safety directives at all times.
• Maintain proper deck logs, safety checklists, and incident documentation as required by company management.
• Inspect life-saving appliances, firefighting apparatus, and navigation aids before getting underway.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Must hold at least a valid Steersman Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued or recognized by MPA Singapore.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience operating vessels in Singapore port waters.
• Well-organized, punctual, and dependable with a strong focus on maritime safety.
• Proficiency in the English language for clear radio communications and operational coordination.
• Able and willing to work flexible marine rosters, including weekends and public holidays.
