Job Overview
Diabetes Singapore (DS), a dedicated registered charity and social service agency leading the national fight against diabetes through preventive care, public education, and clinical support, is hiring a clinically proficient Registered Nurse (available in Full-Time and Part-Time capacities). Operating across dedicated DS health centres and mobile screening buses deployed islandwide, this role delivers critical frontline screening services—specifically Diabetic Retinal Photography (DRP) and Diabetic Foot Screening (DFS)—while empowering patients and communities through targeted diabetes self-management counselling.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality Diabetic Retinal Photography (DRP) to detect early indicators of diabetic retinopathy.
- Conduct thorough Diabetic Foot Screenings (DFS), identifying peripheral neuropathy, arterial insufficiency, ulcer risks, and structural foot deformities.
- Deliver individualized nurse counselling and health education on blood glucose monitoring, lifestyle interventions, insulin therapy, and complications prevention.
- Formulate and implement personalized care plans to support patients and caregivers in effective chronic condition self-management.
- Manage screening documentation and submit clinical diagnostic reports to primary healthcare providers and referring physicians within mandated turnaround times.
- Maintain strict data governance, confidentiality, and patient privacy in full accordance with Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) regulations.
- Coordinate referral pathways and schedule specialized follow-up appointments for patients exhibiting acute complications.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot diagnostic screening equipment on mobile screening buses, community hubs, and static clinic centres.
- Participate in community health outreach initiatives, point-of-care testing, and health awareness campaigns.
- Contribute clinical insights toward the continuous review and enhancement of diabetes management and nursing care protocols.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with a valid practicing certificate from the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably within a hospital, polyclinic, or community health setting, with proven exposure to diabetes care.
- Demonstrated competence in patient education, clinical counseling, and nursing assessment.
- Certified competency in Diabetic Foot Screening (DFS) and Diabetic Retinal Photography (DRP) is highly desirable.
- Experience conducting corporate health talks, public seminars, or community health screenings is an added advantage.
- Proficiency with digital healthcare software, electronic medical records (EMR), report submission systems, and screening hardware troubleshooting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare stakeholders effectively.
